HEFMA Article

The purpose of the session was to consolidate a program of action of HEFMA for the year up-to the Annual General Conference. The Executive Committee has come up with an actionable plan full of exciting and interesting activities for what they characterized as “the year of growth and intesified collaboration”. The plan consists of clear and measurable Key Performance Indicators.

Prior to the strategic session EXCO held a significant meeting on the 31st January 2024 with the University of Mpumalanga Management Committee details of which are to be announced in due course.

The Executive Committee also took time to visit the Ehlanzeni TVET College and met with its Management at Mapulaneng Campus where EXCO was briefed on the state of Infrastructure Management in the college.

The President of HEFMA Mr Lindokuhle Mzolo had this to say about the eventful Three (3) days of HEFMA EXCO at work.

“The executive committee embarked on a 2 day strategic planning retreat to put together a plan of action which will find resonance with HEFMA members in particular and higher education facilities management sector generally. This strategic session took place in the context of welcoming the 50 newly joined TVET colleges in the HEFMA Community and given this significant development which was effected with the collaboration and full support of the Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET), EXCO then decided to visit the closest college to get first hand understanding of the status quo on Infrastructural facilities and the prevailing circumstances and therefore appreciation of the type and form of support required.”

“The strategic planning session was preceded by a very successful and important meeting with the Management Committee of the University of Mpumalanga as directed by our Institutional Members Forum, details of this meeting will be announced soon."
